The Massachusetts School Support Network Edtech Testbed (MassNET) enables  schools to become smarter about how to deploy digital instructional tools in ways that reinforce and enrich student learning and move teacher’s instruction towards personalized learning.
In our first cohort, teams of teachers with a supportive principal identified a problem of practice, and MassNET provided software and job-embedded professional development to help them meet their learning goal. MassNET’s ultimate goal is to meet the needs of our district and school partners. We provide support for identifying instructional goals and selecting appropriate products, however teachers and/or district partners ultimately select their own goals and products as they see fit. This pilot and evaluation process builds knowledge that is shared with educators and product developers.
Today, this grant-funded program supports Massachusetts urban schools in moving to personalized learning. Over 100 pre K-8 teachers are implementing and evaluating English Language Arts instructional software for more than 2,400 students. LearnLaunch Institute MassNET is one of seven edtech testbeds across the nation, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, known as The Learning Assembly.

Project Goals

  • Bring together urban classroom teachers and digital courseware providers to give teachers access to effective products and move toward blended and personalized learning.
  • Engage teachers in implementing and evaluating software to build knowledge that can be shared with product developers and other educators.
  • Become smarter about how to deploy digital instructional tools in ways that reinforce and enrich student learning.
LearnLaunch MassNET is one of seven edtech testbeds across the nation, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This national network of testbeds is known as The Learning Assembly. Together, the Learning Assembly is building an evidence base regarding the implementation of personalized learning in urban schools, and its impact on teacher practice and student achievement.
