Massachusetts Personalized Learning EdTech Consortium (MAPLE)

Through MAPLE, our public-private partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, we connected districts and schools with necessary resources – a strong peer learning community, professional learning, digital tools, funding strategies, technology partners, and a rich evidence base – to create thoughtful and innovative new models of teaching and learning to improve student engagement and achievement.

Over the years that MAPLE was active, many Massachusetts districts participated. Over 32 school districts were actively engaged in best-practice learning circles to develop and adopt a personalized learning vision for their schools.

MAPLE’s Mission

MAPLE’s mission was to catalyze personalized learning in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, with the purpose of better preparing students for their future. The MAPLE consortium energized solutions to ensure student access to personalized learning throughout public education in the Commonwealth.

The 8th annual LearnLaunch Across Boundaries Conference featured the Learning Innovation Showcase, where students described their own participation in classroom innovations. Several teams from MAPLE districts were represented at the event. View footage of the LIS 2020 Ignite Session here!

“The MAPLE Consortium [enabled] us to more rapidly identify innovations that work, make adjustments in those that don’t, and strategically continue to move forward towards helping all of our students succeed.”

Research

During the years that MAPLE was active, our team partnered with Massachusetts school districts, local government, and nonprofits to conduct research related to personalized learning. This included Bright Spot Profiles highlighting narratives of districts implementing personalized learning initiatives, a landscape analysis of K-12 personalized learning in Massachusetts, and recommendations on leadership competencies for personalized learning.
